DAY 6-- Summary of Lecture

Video game genres are used to categorize video games based on their gameplay interaction rather than visual or narrative differences. A video game genre is defined by a set of gameplay challenges. They are classified independent of their setting or game-world content, unlike other works of fiction such as films or books. For example, an action game is still an action game, regardless of whether it takes place in a fantasy world or outer space. Within game studies there is a lack of consensus in reaching accepted formal definitions for game genres, some being more observed than others. Like any typical taxonomy, a video game genre requires certain constants. Most video games feature obstacles to overcome, so video game genres can be defined where obstacles are completed in substantially similar ways.

Video games is more funny than tranditional one. And the screen, the picture is more beautiful. There are some role-play games, each role have their own storys. Therefore it is rich context. Can abstract people more and more.

DAY 5-- Summary of Lecture

eDemocracy represents the use of information and communication technologies by selected actors within political and governance processes of local communities. This covers everything from the political campaigning on the internet and the government’s use of the internet to raise awareness and debate on issues to the people’s use of new technologies to criticise governments and reveal their mistakes.

the increasing concentration, centralisation and commercialisation of the mass media appear to have foreclosed avenues for democratic participation in the current representative democracy. Free speech was also discussed in the lecture as it allows citizens to discuss the key attributes of democracy.

Computer hackers and cyberpunks were also discussed. Computer hackers are people who seek to free information whilst, Cyberpunks are referred to as part of a science fiction genre based around the possibilities of interent in computers, genetics, body modifications and corporate developments in the near future.

DAY 4--Summary of Lecture

The Creative Commons by Corey Doctorow is essentially discusses two main ideas. The first half of the article traces copyright back through history, highlighting the advantages, disadvantages and advancements that have occurred. The latter half of the article discusses what Creative Commons seeks to do: their objectives, services and how and where they operate.
As mentioned, the article commences by prefacing the reader with background information regarding copyright. A summation of the first paragraph indicates that initially, for the vast majority of the time that copyright has been in place, it has not been something applicable to a broad range of works. Rather, copyright was only granted and applied to a very specific and unique group of works. More specifically, governmental associations only granted copyright to authors who had or were registered with national libraries. This method proved adventagoues in the sense that copies of the copyrighted work were held in the respective governments repositories, thus making it easier to locate and identify the individual creator of the work if they needed to be contacted.

Next part is about the Free Software. The comparison between free speech and free beer is set up early within the article to illustrate to the reader that free software is a matter of liberty, not of price. Essentially, a users access to Free Software comes in conjunction with four associated freedoms.
*The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (Freedom 0)

*The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish(Freedom 1)

*The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbour (Freedom 2)

*The freedom to improve the program and release your improvements to the general public, so that the whole community benefits.

This video is talking about the Internet communication and its is funny as well.

Part 2

I used new MSN for nearly 6 years. It's really convenient for my life, it is easier, quicker and cheaper. The first time I use it cause my sister's recommendation. She wanted to chat with me on the Internet. I haven't faced much more about the privacy issue. However like Google and Face book is collecting the information from users. I think this has benefit in both sides. Users use the Facebook to communicate with their friends. Facebook can earn from advertisement. I have some friends just chatting on the Internet. Sometimes, I feel I can tell them my mood more than friends in real world. I think they didn't know my other friends, so would not worried if they tell my things to my friends.
