DAY 2--summary of lecture

In today's lecture our major topic is the history of computer and Internet. Charles Babbage create the first computer machines and be published by IBM in 1950s. In 1970s, the first PC called "0" is released. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak establish the APPLE co.. IBM was a large ultra-conservative firm and slow to move. That's about the history of computer. Next part is about the Internet.

definition of Internet:
(i) is logically linked together by a globally unique address space based on the Internet Protocol(IP) or its subsequent extensions/follow-ons;
(ii)is able to support communications using the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) suite or its subsequent extensions/follow-ons, and/or other IP-compatible protocols; and
(iii) provides, uses or makes accessible, either publicly or privately, high level services layered on the communications and related infrastructure described herein.

The World Wide Web(www) is emerged in the 1990s as people using computer to communicate with each other. The web is just one part of Internet. Early Internet Applications like electronic mail(email),File Transfer Protocol (FTP),Internet Relay Chat (IRC) ,MUDs, MOOs, MUSHes, etc. The more recent Internet application such as Facebook/Myspace, Twitter, Voice chat (Skype) and so on.
